Customer service is a large field that extends to every industry. Most of the time they will work in an office setting, but some work remote. Customer service schedules may also vary widely. Many companies may require that representatives work different morning, afternoon and evening shifts.
The median hourly wage for customer service representatives is around $15.81 an hour. The lowest 10% earned less than $10.27 in 2017 and the highest 10% earned more than $26.12.
Customer service representatives must have excellent communication and customer-service skills. Representatives should be able to listen to customers and address their needs in order to solve a customer’s problem. This helps contribute to customer loyalty and retention.
